Victoria Molinarolo, co-founder of GomattaGirls.com was gracious enough to allow us to interview her about her online by-invite, designer boutique.

Q-What got GomattaGirls.com interested in fashion-member’s only shopping?

Listen, we’re two Italian chicks who love clothes. We’ve worked for boutique designers and as designers ourselves, so we know how to work a fashion deal.  Also, we got a big family and alotta friends with connections if ya catch my drift.  BTW, we’re not really one of those pretend to be exclusive, hoity-toity member-only sites.  Listen, if a friend of a friend tells you about the site, well then……… a friend of yours is a friend of ours! Most of our customers sign up for the daily email—they wanna be the first ones to catch the deals………and they like hearin’ from us. Bada bing!

Q-When did GomattaGirls open?

About two years ago our cousin Vito said the waterfront isn’t what it used to be.  That’s when we got the bright idea to move merchandise via the internet. Unfortunately none of us, our famiglia or any of our wise-guy friends knew one lick about the internet except a’ course how to shop on it.  But our cousin Carlottta likes those non eye-talian college boys.  So she hooked us up with this really smart (not to be confused with “wise”) and cute guy called Lars—he knows all that internet stuff.  And Bada Boom—Gomatta Girls was born!

Q-What states/countries are you open to?

We got friends up north in Canada, so we move merch that direction.

Word has even gotten as far as Japan and Australia.  But for the most part, we’re sellin’ in the good ol’ United States of America.

Q-How much does it cost to ship usually, and how long ’til we will receive items from GomattaGirls?

This shippin’ thing really gets us.  We wish we could just have Sal deliver it to your door.  But hey, people live a bit far, they like their anonymity, and I’m sure Sal might scare a few neighbors—so let’s be realistic—we gotta ship it.  We don’t have a flat rate b/c we wanna charge you the very least amount we can.  We do have some “friends” in the shippin’ business, so we get some good discounts.  Depending where you live and what you buy, it can range from 2 bucks to 8 bucks on average.

Q-What are some of the brands you are excited to feature?

Oh boy, the stuff Sal get’s us, you wouldn’t believe.  We get it all, from the high end stuff like Linea Pelle bags, Melissa Masse dresses to uber chic Riller & Fount to super cute trend brands like Jenny Han, BB Dakota and Tulle.  Honestly, there’s just too many to name.

Q-How long do your sales usually last?

24 hours!  Problem is, Sal wants a quick turn around.  He likes his transaction with our connections to be short and sweet, if ya know what I mean.

Q-Can you tell us more about your closeouts section?

Sometimes we don’t sell the odd piece, or we don’t get enough to run a full sale. Sometimes our connections just disappear and we don’t know what to do with the merch.  So we put it on the closeout page.  You gotta search because often the sizes and colors are limited but we compensate you—the stuff is usually discounted to 90% off retail.

Q-Is there a story behind your name/theme?

You ain’t figured out yet?? OK I gotta spell it out.  We are very nice Italian girls, but hey, we’ve had our share of wise guy boyfriends (Nonna cover your ears).  And in our neighborhood, once you run with a wise guy, you get labeled.  So Gomatta (Italian slang for a wise guys girlfriend), well it sticks. In any event, after you start hangin’ with the guys, you start seein’ how to make a buck.

Ironically, now we’re known as honorary Wise Gals!

Q-What makes your site stand out from other similar sale sites?

Besides style, we gotta a sense of humor.  And if that ain’t enough, we can really deliver the deals (our lawyer told us to stop sayin’

“steals”). All our merchandise is discounted around 70-90%. Like we said, we’ve got connections.   We aren’t so hung up on the big brands like the other sites.  Sure we get lots of ‘em, but we get alotta other deals on cute stuff that we ain’t passing up on. Lastly, our sales start at 8pm, not 9am like those other sites—whose up and ready to shop at 9am??? Gomatta ain’t even had their coffee at that hour.

Our customers know what they like and they know the right price! They got sass, smarts and style! Really, whose better than you?? Bada Bing!!
